Grace to be Born
First stop is our company’s CSR event – a visit to the Grace to Be Born shelter.
The shelter is built for women with unwanted pregnancies and provides for their needs free of charge; more like a halfway house? They cover everything, from checkups to the actual delivery.
Some of the mothers leave their babies behind for adoption; some leave them for the shelter’s care and maybe come back whenever they are ready to support the child.
We stayed with the babies.
My boss, Michelle, and a former teammate, Elang. Behind them is the nursery where we had interaction with the babies who were, for the lack of a better term, abandoned by their mothers. We were not allowed to take photos inside, but the babies were soooooo cute. It’ll make you wonder why there are people who could stomach leaving these adorable angels behind.
Our other colleagues stayed with the moms and moms to be who were staying at the shelter. They taught them quilting / crochet?
@supermavic and I are self-confessed art class failures, so we did not join that part haha.
We spent most of our time with the babies / toddlers.
The shelter aims to stop / lessen the abortion cases by helping the mothers in their pregnancies and finding a suitable family for the babies if these mothers choose to leave them behind.
The song @supermavic noticed, the words will give you goosebumps. They were written by Fatima Soriano, a blind kid (well she’s all
Grown up now), who chose not to let her condition break her.
Next stop: my godson Ralph Jacob’s birthday!!!
Amazed at these paper hot air balloon replicas! So colorful 😊😊😊
The Birthday boy!!!
Magician performing for the kids
Sigrid, the shy birthday boy and Geli – they were my batchmates in my previous work and we’ve stayed like sisters ever since.
Requisite photo op with the family of the birthday boy haha!! Our group, the Chorva family as we used to call it, initially bonded because we were the ones who really really loved having our photos taken haha. I have hundreds of Facebook albums to prove this obsession.
Three Spanish Movies
Ending my long and hectic day with three (yes, three) Spanish movies!
I’m feeling a bit tired already and I hope I won’t fall asleep in any of these films. But of course, given the shock factor of all the ones I chose, I’d presume I will be awake the entire time hahaha!!
Film No. 1:
(Summary grabbed from IMDB)
Natalia and Carlos, both aged 20, are in love and struggling to survive in today’s Spain. Their limited resources prevent them from getting ahead as they’d like to. They have no great ambitions because they have no great hopes. To earn some money, they decide to shoot an amateur porno film. The birth of their daughter Julia is the main catalyst for the changes they make.

2 of 3:
Rafa has never left his native Seville, Andalusia, until he meets a Basque girl named Amaia, who resists his seduction techniques. Against his friends’ advice, he follows her to Euskadi after she stays the night in his house and forgets her purse. A series of misunderstandings forces Rafa to impersonate a full-blooded Basque with eight surnames, and he gets more and more entangled in that character in order to get his way.
Third one. I have to admit I am feeling v. Sleepy right now. This one has a weird story but the reviews say it is an interestingly beautiful film.
